Like everything I seem to do, I jumped right in the deep end for my first attempt at auto upholstery. Not perfect but I am learning. My technique seems to be improving as I go. Critiques tips and tricks welcome.

Looks great so far! You are definitely starting with a more advanced project. I always put a layer of vinyl material over my springs and then a layer of jute pad, then the foam on top of that. It protects the foam from the springs. And depending on the seat sometimes I'll run a couple of strips of jute webbing from one side of the seat frame to the other between the seat springs to make it a little firmer. But that's a personal preference, I don't like the bounce you get from those springs in some trucks.

I think it looks top notch! Is that a Pfaff 545/H4 I see in your picture? I just purchased one last week, still cleaning it up. It is my first industrial sewing machine. My projects are to upholster boat cushions for two boats and car interior for our 1964 Mercury Caliente.
