So, I'm not sure how many of you will recall but in my introduction post I mentioned having a friend who did the embroidery for my boat. Her name is Annie. She is also the one who hooked me up with the guy I bought my machine from.

Well, it turns out Annie's husband Greg, has a friend named Brian down in South Carolina who owns a rat rod the was selected to be in The Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival.

Well, Brian wasn't to happy with his current interior, (sorry no pics of that) So Greg kinda threw Annie under the bus to make a new one. Annie, obviously decided to drag me down with her although I was already volunteering to fall on that grenade as I wanted some more experience and a new project.

He wanted a way to roll it halfway up so people at the show could look inside so I used a piece of black vinyl and some gypsy studs to make a cover that snaps in place but can be removed

Nice job that you did. Looked to be a fun stitchIng project. I don't think that is classed as a rat rod. Things are to neat and shinny paint.

Thanks. Not sure I would call it a rat rod either but that's what the owner called it so who am I to argue LOL.

I will say it was a bit fun albeit challenging. I really wasn't sure if I could pull off the seat backs the way he wanted them. I did a couple practice attempts on some scrap before I committed to the real deal.

Sewing the stuff on the top was the most tedious and nerve racking. Almost all of it was done with the hand wheel. One stitch, lift knee, adjust, repeat. The points coming off the spade I found easiest to sew out to the tip and then hold the reverse lever and back up to the main body as opposed to trying to spin the whole thing under the throat.
