Hi guys, this is my first post here in this group. Me and my wife bought these a week ago from her coworker boyfriend for $200… it was to good to past up in my opinion. After we paid we lifted the couch up and mouse poop came running out like a casino win lol. Yeah yeah I know nasty but things can be cleaned and restored. We like that it’s leather wrapped all around it’s not vinyl like all the new stuff. This set has to be probably a good 15-20 years old it was in the family a while. we gave our 3 year old catnapper sofa set away for free that was topgrain leather(seated areas) but are shepard torn the vinly of on the side.
So far all I did was clean them and some leather honey. We ripped the black fabric off so we could get a good cleaning on the under side. We then noticed why it sage so much. Broken support board in the middle. Well you just can’t buy 1 inch thick lumber so i used my bench planer to get it to 1 inch thickness. So now that’s fixed.
So here’s my questions if you guys can help
what’s the best way to bring back the color, im looking to do this the right way the first time.
what type of sealer/conditioner is best.
Should I reattach the black fabric that goes on the bottom.
Some insight to the family 5 kids 3 medium size dogs. I love leather because it holds up the best to pets Much thanks. im pretty handy when it comes to fixing things, i just rather here it from people who have done this to get my knowlege from them besides some article on the web trying to sell a product.
THANKS in advance
